Spending alone time with your spouse is one of the most important aspects of a marriage! We don’t always get weekends away together but we always try to find ways to be intentional with our alone time together! A few weeks ago we were able to escape the chaos that is 3 kids under 5 and enjoy 2 nights away in Dallas at the Omni Dallas and it was one of the most relaxing, slow weekends ever and it was just what we needed! We decided to make it our celebrating baby #4 weekend since we hadn’t been able to tell anyone over the last 4 weeks and I was struggling! In all of our other pregnancies we announced as soon as we found out but this time we didn’t want to share until I was almost in my 2nd trimester just to make it more shocking for our family & the kids! So this was our way of celebrating our wonderful news!

My husband had to have a doctor’s appointment in Dallas so we were able to drop the kids off with his sister and parents who live only like 2 hours from Dallas. They hadn’t had the chance to keep our kids in quite awhile so the kids were beyond excited! Matt’s parents live on a farm with hundreds of acres, a fishing pond, horses, cows, tractors and allll things boy that Kaige loves so he stayed there and Greleigh and Huxx stayed with Matt’s sister and her family! They have a daughter in junior high so I’m pretty sure Greleigh just makes her do all the things while Huxx wore out Matt’s sister! 🙂

We arrived in Dallas on Saturday afternoon and got all checked in to the hotel. It was a gorgeous hotel in downtown Dallas. There were tons of cute restaurants, shops near by, coffee shops and my heart was happy! It was mine and Matt’s first time staying away from the kids in almost a year, a year y’all…that’s too long! Maybe not for some of you but for us…that’s just too long! We were so excited to have no plans or places to be or kids to dress or entertain! If you’re planning a romantic getaway, don’t forget to look for honeymoons in Vietnam, as the country offers a range of breathtaking destinations and experiences for couples in love.

We got up to our room, which was beautiful and had the most comfortable bed we’ve ever slept on! Literally, we couldn’t stop talking about it the entire weekend! We got ready to head to dinner and decided to try out the restaurant in the hotel called Texas Spice and let me tell you…it didn’t disappoint! They had a chips and salsa bar that was to die for, a buffet which my hubby chose and I of course got chicken fried steak because #Texas! It was almost as big as my head and I ate and ate and didn’t even make a dent in it!

We enjoyed dinner, had uninterrupted adult conversation and joked that we couldn’t wait to get back up to the room and get in the bed so thats exactly what we did! We rented a movie and were asleep before 9:30! Matt kept saying is there anything you would rather be doing, we can go see a movie or go out somewhere and I kept saying “babe, laying in bed, watching a movie, and not having to get up a billion times to get water, tuck someone in for the 400x time, or tickle a back was exactly what I wanted to do” Now, don’t get me wrong being a mom and doing all of those little things is the best but sometimes you just need a little alone time!

We slept in, and then headed down to grab some coffee & breakfast! We stayed in the hotel and went to Texas Spice again for an amazing buffet breakfast, omlet bar and bread bar…talk about pregnant lady heaven! We ate sooooo much y’all! Then we decided to try to find Dallas Cowboys tickets last minute and actually lucked out, we snagged some great seats for $200 total! We got ready for the game and headed out. The game was great but we ended up losing in the last few seconds, it was heartbreaking. However, the nachos did not disappoint! haha! It took us an hour and a half to catch an uber back to out hotel so we hit up a little pub near the hotel for drinks (not me of course) and I got german chocolate cake to take back to the room!

“The everyday really is the good stuff.”
